They wrote: one of the first steps of the joint work to protect the agricultural sector will be the research of the virus that causes the sopornyica disease and the assessment of the effectiveness of the available vaccines. By combining their knowledge base, the employees of the institutions are undertaking to solve a problem that has been causing problems for years, which can not only bring a breakthrough in scientific life, but also bring benefits to the market and increase the effectiveness of veterinary vaccines against the disease, they added. It was highlighted that experts use the viral genomics process developed at the National Laboratory of Virology to map the genetic stock of the virus strains behind diseases with various outcomes, but the investigation of other exotic, cross-border animal diseases that appear on the eastern and southern borders of the European Union also plays a prominent role in the joint project. These include foot-and-mouth disease, a pest of small rodents, sheep and goat pox, skin nodule disease, and viruses spread by ticks and mosquitoes.

They emphasized that the joint fight against the examined diseases can promote EU disease control measures, preventing serious economic effects

The PTE pointed out that the Pécs-Temesvár cooperation contributes to better utilization of the infrastructure of the National Laboratory of Virology in the region, to better preparedness for epidemic prevention in the region, to an increase in the number of publications obtained from the detection and identification of new pathogens, and to the expansion of the institutions cooperating with the laboratory circle, creating a stronger research and innovation environment. The institution in Pécs and Temesvár is also planning a wide-ranging educational cooperation, in which the laboratory can appear as a training center – read the announcement.
