The Active and Ecotourism Development Center and MKIK have signed a cooperation agreement
The Active and Ecotourism Development Center (AÖFK) and the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) signed a cooperation agreement in Budapest on Thursday to promote the SZÉP card for active Hungarians.
Máriusz Révész, State Secretary for Active Hungary at the Ministry of Public Administration and Regional Development, highlighted at the event that the amount placed in the SZÉP card for active Hungarians, which can be 120 thousand forints per year, can only be spent by employees on exercise. The support aims to help people live healthier lives, he said.
In order to promote the new SZÉP card, they are looking for allies among company managers to address people and persuade them to exercise and live healthier lives. This is important because the number of working days lost due to illness in Hungary is extremely high even in international comparison, Máriusz Révész noted.
He drew attention to the fact that life expectancy in Hungary is 4.6 years behind the EU average, with a difference of 5.3 years for men and 3.9 years for women.
The State Secretary cited a WHO survey, according to which the health status of people is determined by the healthcare system in 11 percent and lifestyle in 43 percent.
Based on a survey by the Global Observatory for Physical Activity, he pointed out that 9.7 percent of deaths in Hungary can be attributed to a sedentary lifestyle. According to the State Secretary’s calculations, this means that 37 people die every day in connection with their sedentary lifestyle.
