The Ministry of Agriculture and Metro Trading Ltd. signed a cooperation agreement
Minister of Agriculture István Nagy and Vladimir Gnjidić, CEO of Metro Trading Ltd., will sign a cooperation agreement on Thursday following the opening of the National Agricultural and Food Exhibition and Fair (OMÉK) in Budapest.
Péter Ondré, CEO of the Agricultural Marketing Center (AMC), told MTI that the goal of the cooperation is to make Hungarian products available to the widest possible range in retail and wholesale trade, as well as in the HoReCa (hotels, restaurants, cafés) sector.
The agreement was preceded by several months of negotiations, he noted.
Makó onions and goulash soup will be the focus of Metro’s campaign, which will last until next summer. The company has also reached an agreement with a local onion-growing cooperative to distribute its products, he added.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Metro also plays an important role in supplying the HoReCa sector, so it is of utmost importance that Hungarian suppliers are also present in the retail chains with their products.
The 82nd OMÉK exhibition is organized by the Agrármarketing Centrum with the professional support of the Ministry of Agriculture (AM) between September 18 and 21 at the Hungexpo Budapest Congress and Exhibition Center.
