The EU would make the control of agricultural products more efficient and more simple
The European Commission would simlify the rules on animal health and on plant protection and would make the control of agricultural products more efficient – Tonio Borg, member of the board responsible for for consumer and health issues announced on Monday.
The Commissioner pointed out that the agri-food industry is the second largest sector, that produces a value of 750 billion euros and provides employment for 48 million people.
“Although the best food safety standards of the world can be found in Europe, the recent horse meat scandal has revealed that there is still room for improvement, though now no one's health was in immediate threat,” – the Maltese politician told. (MTI)
