In recent weeks, the Romanian authorities have identified an ASP outbreak in several large pig farms in Timișoara County (Romania), which is close to the Hungarian border. In Croatia, the virus has been detected again in domestic pig herds, and in Serbia, the number of ASP cases is very high in both domestic pigs and wild boars. Since these settlements are close to the Hungarian border, the deteriorating epidemiological situation poses a constant risk to the southern counties of our country.

Nébih once again draws the attention of all stakeholders (veterinarians, pig farmers, hunters) to the need for complete protection against ASP. Only strict and consistent compliance with epidemiological regulations can guarantee the most important goal: to maintain the freedom of the Hungarian domestic pig herd from the ASP virus.

Epidemiological experts primarily emphasize the need to maintain the disease-prevention closure of pig farms, drawing attention to the importance of this

Restricting passenger and vehicle traffic, proper storage of litter and feed raw materials, and prohibiting the feeding of animal by-products and green fodder are of paramount importance. In terms of preventing the introduction of the virus, it is also crucial that fresh meat and uncooked pork products are not brought into our country from border traffic or from visiting relatives. In addition, feeding pigs with food waste remains strictly prohibited.
