More and more Chinese tourists are coming to Hungary
Márton Nagy signed a cooperation agreement with the Minister of Culture and Tourism in Beijing.
Based on the data of recent years, Hungary is becoming an increasingly popular destination among Chinese tourists, which reflects the strengthening tourism and cultural cooperation between the two countries. In 2024, the Budapest Chinese Cultural Center began its operations, and the Chinese tourism week also took place successfully, which, with the strengthening of cultural communication, supports the establishment of further cooperation and the deepening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Hungary. The spectacular increase in the number of foreign tourists, including Chinese tourists, clearly indicates Hungary’s growing attractiveness, but the purpose of the new cooperation agreement is to attract even more Chinese tourists to Hungary.
To this end, the aim is for a Chinese airline to establish an air port at the Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport, which can continue to transport Chinese passengers from Budapest to the west. As a result of national tourism developments and intensive promotional campaigns, Budapest and the rural regions are attracting more and more visitors, which results not only in tourism, but also in the local economy. As a strategically important sector, tourism is a defining pillar of Hungary’s economy, providing more than 10% of the country’s GDP. The number of people working in the sector is constantly increasing, and it directly or indirectly provides a living for 400,000 people.
