More food is imported each year
According to Agrármonitor; In recent years the proportion of imported food has significantly increased in Hungary, so the experts are now estimate that it is exceeds 30 percent.
Between 2000 and 2003, the rate of food imports barely changed. It was 12-13 percent. In the year when Hungary accessed to the EU, it was increased to 17 percent, then in 2005, jumped to 26 percent. Since then, the rate slowly, but steadily increasing.
Szabó Márton, leading researcher of Kopint-Tarki pointed out that the proportion of food imports are difficult to estimate, because the foreign foods are often processed and exported into otther countries – reports Privátbankár.hu.
