There are more and more quality champagnes in Hungary
Interest in champagne has been gradually increasing in Hungary in the recent period – the Ministry of Agriculture (AM) writes in a statement sent to MTI on Saturday.
In addition to festive occasions and special events, more and more people are discovering the magical world of bubbly drinks on weekdays as well. Getting to know the diversity and special flavors of champagnes is also a great opportunity for domestic gastronomy and culture, they say in the announcement.
As they write, domestic producers offer high-quality champagnes on both domestic and international markets. Consumer demands have resulted in more and more wineries moving in the direction of bubbles, and the results are clearly indicated by more and more international awards. It can already be said that Hungarian champagne is experiencing a renaissance, because almost 200 wineries produce such a drink. Most of them are covered by the Upper Pannonian and Danube wine regions. 5 percent of the wines produced in Hungary will become champagne. This means 140-160 thousand hectoliters per year.
