Flavored mineral water products are becoming more and more popular
The negative consequences of the economic fluctuations of the past period also affect the actors of the domestic mineral water industry. Due to runaway inflation and high energy prices, mineral water turnover began to decline in the second half of 2022, and this trend has continued ever since. The Hungarian Mineral Water, Fruit Juice and Soft Drink Association told Hellovidék.hu that the biggest decline can be observed in the case of plain mineral waters and 100 percent fruit juices, while the demand for flavored products is increasing.
In addition to economic difficulties, changes in raw material prices, energy and transportation costs also play a role in the development of the situation. During the year 2023, the turnover decreased to a different extent depending on the category and period, most markedly in the case of mineral waters and 100 percent fruit juices.
However, the demand for flavored mineral waters and carbonated soft drinks remained unchanged, so these products were stable on the market. Sales of iced teas fluctuated, and juices with less than 25 percent juice became more popular.
