Payment in euro is more and more popular
Praktiker stores carry out more than 4 million purchasing transactions annually, two-thirds of these are paid in cash, while euro payments amount to 2 percent.
With the weakening of the forint, the turnover in Praktiker stores along the northern and western border increases significantly, because in these stores the customers can pay with Euros. The DIY chain first introduced its service in its unit in Esztergom in April 2010. The company’s declared intention was to win the customers of Slovakia, where the official currency became euro that time. Since the introduction of the service more than 85 thousand such transactions took place in the Praktiker stores, with a turnover about 200 thousand euros per month.
