Backyard farming is becoming increasingly popular
The backyard farming is becoming more and more popular. The people are realizing that it is not true that food products are cheaper in the stores – Fazekas Sándor, Minister of Rural Development said on Thursday at a professional meeting in Gödöllő.
Fazekas Sándor added that currently backyard farming is performed in nearly 1 million households, producing fruits, vegetables, eggs and meat. Meanwhile, the number of farmers is about half a million.
According to the minister, a positive change occurred in attitude, so far 19 thousand people applied to be primary producers this year. (MTI)
