Irrigation will become more and more necessary

In one year, the amount of water used for irrigation increased by more than a third
There was a large variation by region: in the Southern Great Plain, on average, 14.9 percent more water was used for irrigation per hectare than the national average, while in Northern Hungary, less water was used per hectare than a third of the national average. In 2021, nearly nine-tenths of the irrigated area was also irrigated by farmers with surface water (similar to the value in 2020), and only 12 percent with underground water. (MTI)
