German retailer Lidl sets increasingly high animal welfare standards
In accordance with the rules for dairy products in Germany, which will be revised until the end of 2025, products such as cottage cheese, fresh cream, sour cream, cream cheese and skyr must come from farms that meet at least Level 3 husbandry standards.

Since 2024 Lidl has only been offering milk from free-range animals (Level 3) and domestic sources in Germany, and it plans to do the same with meat products by the end of the year.
