Alcohol and cigarette prices increased significantly in Egypt
As part of the austerity measures, the alcohol and cigarette prices were increased significantly in Egypt, two days after the fuel prices increased by close to 80 percent – the al-Ahram newspaper published on Monday.
The decision about the latest price increase that was announced on Sunday came into force on Monday. The cigarette tax was increased by 50 percent on average, tax on beer and other alcoholic beverages increased by 200 and 150 percent. (Máté Bence, MTI)
