We’re not leaving the cleaning to robots for now
Price-value ratio is the most important consideration among Hungarians when purchasing household cleaning equipment, and they switch to more modern machines in the hope of more efficient and thorough cleaning – this was revealed, among other things, by the survey entitled Tisztaság körkép 2025, commissioned by the cleaning technology expert Kärcher. 70 percent of those surveyed use a traditional vacuum cleaner to keep their home clean, while a robot vacuum cleaner can only be found in every tenth household.
Traditional machines are popular, but we keep an eye on the new products
A lot of machines for household purposes are available in stores, and although Hungarians prefer more traditional solutions for now, more and more people are opening up to new technologies – this is one of the main lessons of the survey conducted by the research company Momentor on behalf of Kärcher.
The vast majority of respondents have a traditional vacuum cleaner, 70 percent use such equipment to keep their home clean. Interestingly, although the vacuum cleaner leads the field of machines, the cleaning tool most people use is not this, but the mop, which nearly 90 percent use regularly. Many people marked both, as the question also allowed for the selection of more than one tool.
In addition to the traditional vacuum cleaner, more modern machines are also appearing in more and more Hungarian households. In the Kärcher research, a quarter of those surveyed indicated that they own a standing vacuum cleaner, and 15 percent of them also use a wet-dry vacuum cleaner. According to the data, the younger generation is more open to new devices: for example, 32.1 percent of 18-29 year olds own a standing vacuum cleaner. However, it would be an exaggeration to say that robots will take over the cleaning task from us, as robot vacuum cleaners are only found in a tenth of households according to the survey.
The lawnmower is a basic tool for garden care
The research also asked what Hungarians do to keep their gardens tidy in addition to indoors. If we look only at machines, the lawnmower is the most commonly used tool for this purpose, with slightly more than 60 percent indicating that they use such equipment. However, taking into account hand tools, the real star of the work related to keeping the garden tidy is the rake, which is used by almost 70 percent of respondents. Since it was possible to indicate multiple tools here too, after the lawnmower, many also mentioned edge trimmers and chainsaws among the machines, with roughly a third of those surveyed using these tools. Around a quarter of them use hedge trimmers, while slightly more than 15 percent also try to keep their garden tidy with a high-pressure washer.
