They drew attention to International Tea Day with a glass of hot tea
The action called “A Cup of Love” was organized in the Santa Claus Factory in the capital and in several settlements of Balaton. In these places passers-by were offered a glass of tea. With the promotion, attention was drawn to the fact that December 15 is one of the international days of tea. At this time, demonstrations are held in the countries with the world’s largest tea plantations in order to make visible the problems that plague the workers on the plantations. The wages of workers here are often quite low, medical care in rural areas is inadequate, and there is often not enough potable water on the tea plantations. In parallel, the owners of the plantations often make children work.
On this day, drinking a cup of hot tea in many countries draws attention to the importance of buying products that come from fair trade. As you know, in addition to the enjoyable aspects of tea consumption, the industry has a dark side related to the exploitation of children. Young children are often forced to work in dangerous conditions on plantations
International Tea Day offers an opportunity to draw attention to this critical topic and stand up for the ethical and responsible sourcing of tea (and all other products, such as cocoa, bananas, etc.) – reads “A Cup of Love in the announcement of the action.
