Construction has begun on Europe’s largest intermodal terminal in Fényeslitke in the Záhony area. The EWG will be the continent’s most modern land container and combined terminal. The Chinese goods will reach Western Europe through this 22 billion HUF investment – mfor.hu wrote.
In the Záhony area, despite many plans of the last three decades, infrastructure of adequate quality and capacity has not been built. For goods arriving by rail from the former Soviet region and the Far East, transhipment has always been a problem due to the different track gauge, resulting in an additional loss of time, which did not make the logistics point known as the Záhony transhipment competitive.
