Syngenta: One planet, three directions
What can agriculture do to save our planet? The sector’s role is to produce food in a sustainable way that is enough to feed the growing population of our planet, doing this on decreasing land size and with deteriorating land quality, utilising less water than before – putting as small a burden on the environment as possible.
Syngenta takes its share from this work. In the last 12 months we organised 150 forums for various stakeholders in 90 countries, to listen to what different organisations think we should do to contribute to sustainable agricultural production. From what we heard, it became clear to us that we need to speed up innovation in agriculture. Syngenta has defined three directions for this:
Society and nature guided innovation: We will ensure that new Syngenta products support sustainability principles and develop technologies guided by society and nature alongside science and grower productivity.
Strive for the lowest residues in crops and the environment: Safe and effective crop protection is necessary, but we will further minimize residues in crops and nature.
Invest where it matters to farmers and nature: In cooperation with farmers, researches and environmental protection groups, will invest to foster and develop sustainable agriculture solutions.
You will be updated about Syngenta’s sustainability efforts in our blog (blog.syngenta.hu) and on our Facebook page (facebook.com/syngentaagrarklub). (x)
