Magazine: Egg import helped
Data from the Agricultural Economics Research Institute (AKI) and KSH’s market price information system (PÁIR) revealed that in the European Union the price of egg at the place of packaging has been decreasing since December 2017.
In January 2018 it was EUR 169/100kg, nearly 12 percent less than the average at the end of 2017. In Hungary the same trend prevailed, M+L size eggs cost HUF 35.44/piece at the place of packaging in January 2018, 16 percent less than in December 2017. Between January and November 2017 Hungary bought 15 percent more eggs (19,000 tons) and 24 percent more fresh eggs (6,900 tons) in the international market than a year earlier.
In Hungary raw milk’s average price was down 2 percent in January 2018 from the December 2017 level. Raw milk’s export price was HUF 94.62/kg, 5 percent lower than in last December. //
