Spirits: brandy, pálinka brandy and bitter are the most popular
The retail sales of distilled spirits were 73 billion HUF between October 2008 and November 2009, just like as in the previous comparable period. However, a 5 percent volume reduction was registered by the Nielsen market research company.
In the ranking of the leading spirits volume sales, pálinka is the leader, ahead of brandy, bitter, vodka, liqueurs, vermouth, whiskey, rum and gin. In value; bitter took the lead ahead of pálinka, vodka, brandy, whiskey, liqueurs, rum, vermouth and gin.
Among the spirits with the highest turnover whiskey’s price increased by 14 percent in August-September this year, compared to the previous year's comparable period. Pálinka’s price increased by 10, vodka by 7, bitter by 6, while brandy by 5 percent.
