The recognition of high quality is not given easily this time either. It is a basic requirement that intact, well-cut corn kernels have a bright yellow color characteristic of the variety. They should resemble tender, boiled corn in taste and smell.
It can be sweet or super sweet, but it must not contain any foreign substances
The KMÉ is stricter than the Hungarian Food Code even with respect to permitted quality deviations. According to the KMÉ, 100g of quick-frozen sweet corn can contain no more than 8 overripe, wrinkled kernels, according to the Hungarian Food Book, 10, and in the case of a second-class product, up to 20. For tanned or black eyes, the KMÉ allows 1 piece per 100 grams, the Hungarian Food Book 3. It is also a mandatory requirement for the packaging to indicate how the product must be heat treated in order to achieve perfect quality, in a place and form that is clearly visible to the consumer.
