Shortcoming of olive oil can occur across Europe
Olive production in Italy has not been as bad as this year for twenty-five years – Index wrote. The drop was 57 percent, so it is expected that they have to import olive oil this year.
Heavy rain, early spring frosts, strong winds and summer drought have hit the Mediterranean region. According to Riccardo Valentini, Head of Euro-Mediterranean Climate Change Center, these extreme weather conditions clearly lead to lower yields. (index, Juhász Edina)
