Whole Europe suffers from the lack of potatoes
Hungary will have to import potatoes this year: Usually Hungary produces 600-700 thousand tons, this year’s harvest will be about 350 thousand tons.
Due to the lack of potatoes, the missing amount should be imported from abroad, but in most parts of the continent, potatoe production declined – reports the British Potato Marketing Board (Potato Council).
In the largest part of Europe, the potato harvest is nearing completion, although 20-25 percent of the crop is still on the fields. The crop is fewer than in 2009, in almost all countries – reports szabadfold.hu.
