EEA: water quality is excellent in the majority of Europe’s bathing areas
More than 85 percent of European bathing areas have earned the highest rating on the basis of the European Union’s stringent rating criteria – according to the European Environment Agency’s annual report published on Tuesday.
At least 95 percent of bathing waters in Luxembourg, Malta, Cyprus, Greece and Austria deserved to be awarded with the highest rating, which means that water is almost completely free from harmful pollutants to human health and the environment. (MTI)
