So far, paid admission has brought 2.2 million euros to Venice
More than 485,000 people have paid to enter the city of Venice so far, the toll system has brought in 2.25 million euros since its introduction on April 25, it was said at the press conference held in Venice on Friday.
From April 25, on all weekends and public holidays, you will have to pay five euros per person to enter Venice between nine thirty in the morning and four in the afternoon, except for those under fourteen, residents of the Venice and Veneto regions, visitors with hotel reservations and some other categories. Three million euros were spent on the introduction of the system.
According to the figures released at the press conference of Mayor Luigi Brugnaro, more than 16,000 tourists arrived on average on paid days, most of them on Saturdays.
In addition to the daily fee, those arriving in Venice must also register on the dedicated internet portal, the number of registrations was more than 3.6 million.
Tourism councilor Simone Venturini believed that the high number of tax-free people proves that there are many more people living in the city on a permanent basis than the officially announced 49,000.
