The best gluten-free bakeries can compete again this year
This year, the search for the gluten-free bread and pastry of the year continues. The aim of the competition, which is implemented within the framework of the Hungarian Bread program, remains the same: to draw attention to the needs of people with celiac disease and those following a special diet and to promote innovation in gluten-free products.
The National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK), the Association of Hungarian Farmer Associations and Cooperatives (MAGOSZ), the Hungarian Celiac Association and AMUREX GM Hungary Kft. are announcing the Gluten-Free Bread and Pastry of the Year competition again this year. The aim of the initiative remains the same: to draw attention to the needs of people with celiac disease and those following a special diet and to promote innovation in gluten-free products.
In the competition, which is implemented within the framework of the Hungarian Bread program, gluten-free bakeries can enter in two categories this year, with a total of 4 products. In the Gluten-Free Breads category, fresh and long-lasting breads will compete, while in the Gluten-Free Pastry category, filled and unfilled pastries can be entered by bakeries.
The organizers are looking for applications from businesses that have at least one closed business year; gluten-free products must meet the legal requirements. The results of a measurement of the gluten content of all products entered into the competition, carried out by an independent, accredited laboratory using the R5 Mendez procedure no older than 1 month, must be attached.
One of the sponsors of the competition, the Hungarian Dairy Industry Experimental Institute Ltd. (MTKI Ltd.), will perform a free test of one sample per company if the entrant sends at least one more sample, and a 15 percent discount on the list price will be provided for the testing of the second and each subsequent sample. If someone enters one product, a 70 percent discount on the list price can be obtained.
The organizers are waiting for participants to apply until September 22, 2025. The completed and duly signed entry form, together with the requested attachments, must be sent to the e-mail address nevezes@coeliakia.hu. The entry form must state the name of the gluten-free bread and pastry entered, and must include all the characteristics of the product and a list of its ingredients (with product data sheet or label, packaging).
