SAP Business AI speeds up the operation of an e-sports team
The Team Liquid team, one of the most well-known e-sports formations, received invaluable professional support by being able to evaluate their matches and their opponents’ past and expected future moves on the SAP Business Technology Platform.
Team Liquid has an impressive presence in the world of eSports, with over 160 professional players competing in over 15 different games and over 10 million followers across various social media platforms. Having won over 75 major events, Team Liquid is one of the most successful organizations in the world of competitive gaming. The game with the highest views and the widest fan base is League of Legends. Team Liquid is successfully competing with their League of Legends team, which recently won the 2024 League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Spring Championship. In League of Legends, the goal is to create a strong and balanced team of five characters, or “champions”.
Teams select champions from 166 champion profiles created by the game in pre-match qualifiers – so-called “drafts”. Since champions are player-controlled characters, it’s not just the players’ abilities that determine their suitability for a team of five: each champion has specific abilities and strengths. The composition of the champions allows the team to play in different strategic directions to win the match.
