Hungarian wine exports fell sharply
Compared to last year, the producer prices of wines increased, especially during domestic sales. The rate of price increase on export markets is much lower. In the first three quarters of this year, the producer price per hectoliter of wines sold domestically increased by nearly 14%, reaching HUF 29.5 thousand.
In the case of white wines with a protected geographical indication, the increase was about 17%, while we experienced a 13% price increase for red and rosé wines. The price of exported wines increased by 2% compared to the previous year, which meant HUF 28.3 thousand per hectoliter. The price of white wines with a protected geographical indication practically did not change, while we saw a 10% price increase for red and rosé wines.
Among wines with designation of origin, the domestic average price of Tokaj white wines increased by 23% compared to the previous year, reaching HUF 147.5 thousand per hectoliter. The price of red and rosé wines in Eger also increased, by nearly 15%, to HUF 57.8 thousand. In export, the price of wines with a quality designation of origin continues to rise to a lesser extent than the domestic price, for example, it increased by 13% in the case of Tokaj white wines.
