El Jimador Tequila Receives Top Medals at Prominent Spirits Competitions
El Jimador tequilas received prominent medals at the 2012 Ultimate Spirits Challenge and the 2012 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. El Jimador Reposado earned a double gold medal and el Jimador Anejo earned a gold medal in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The Ultimate Spirits Challenge bestowed top scores to el Jimador Reposado and Anejo, each receiving a 92 (excellent, highly recommended).
For the 2nd consecutive year, el Jimador tequilas earned prominent awards from prestigious spirits competitions. El Jimador tequilas continue to be carefully crafted using traditional methods, such as cooking the agave in clay ovens and fermenting naturally with wild yeast.“I'm very pleased that year after year our tequila products are being singled out and continue to receive outstanding accolades from experts in the spirits industry,” said Salvador Alvarez, managing director for Brown-Forman's Tequilas. “To receive such validation from the judging panel at these competitions encourages us to continue bringing excellent and superior quality products to our tequila aficionados.”
The San Francisco World Spirits Competition is the first comprehensive, international spirits judging ever held in the United States on an annual basis. Judging is based on a blind, consensual procedure ensuring competitive integrity, making this annual competition the most reputable and recognized competition in the spirits industry. During the 2012 competition, a record number of entries, 1215 products from 61 countries, were evaluated by 34 of the finest palates from the spirits industry including twelve new judges. These judging panels were comprised of spirits experts from noted restaurants and hotels, well-known spirits journalists from major national media, spirits buyers for large purveyors, and spirits consultants. Bronze, silver or gold medals are given to most entries from the tasting panel. However, brands that are judged as unanimous gold medalists by the panel are given the distinction of a “double-gold” medal.
