Pálinka may also face a drastic price increase
The drought and recession are also affecting the pálinka distilleries, but according to those involved, the price of one of the Hungarians’ favorite drinks will only increase by half the necessary amount.

There are also liquidity problems
“Some of the breweries represented by the Pálinka National Council (PNT) did not purchase fruit, partly because there are breweries whose sales channels ceased or were significantly reduced during the Covid period, and therefore have significant stocks. As a result of Covid and the economic effects of the past period, some breweries unfortunately had liquidity problems to such an extent that they were unable to purchase new fruits”
– László Mihályi, the president of the PNT, revealed to Világgazdaság.
