More expensive cereal crops
In July 2018 agricultural production prices grew by 1.2 percent from the level of July 2017 – reported the Central Statistical Offi ce (KSH). This increase was the result of vegetable product prices growing by 4.5 percent and livestock/products of animal origin prices decreasing by 4 percent from the base period level.
Compared with July 2017, the price of cereal crops augmented by 13 percent. Wheat cost 7.9 percent more and
corn’s price was up 16 percent. Livestock’s production price reduced by 5.5 percent, while products of animal
origin cost 0.6 percent less.
