Beach buffets are getting more expensive: the average price of a “beach combo” at Lake Balaton is now 4,289 forints
The prices of the free beach buffets on Lake Balaton have increased further by the summer of 2025, exceeding inflation, according to a recent overview by balatontipp.hu.
At the 26 locations examined, the average price of the iconic “beach buffet combo” – plain lángos, draft beer, soft drink, espresso coffee and jam pancakes – is 4,289 forints this year, which is an 18% increase compared to last year’s 3,639 forints. The cheapest package costs 3,470 forints in Balatonlellé, the most expensive 5,490 forints in Siófok.
The price increase is not uniform: the price of lángos has jumped by 25% (on average 1,308 forints), but espresso coffee (642 forints, +23%) and soft drink (815 forints, +18%) also cost considerably more. The most expensive products are still typical of the northern coast and Siófok, while on the southwestern coast – for example in Balatonfenyves or Fonyód – several buffets also belong to the cheaper category. Service providers justify the price increase with raw material and labor costs, as well as increasing municipal burdens. The largest price increase was recorded in Fonyód (+33%), while the largest price decrease was recorded in Siófok (-4%). The price differences are spectacular: there is a 58% difference between the cheapest and most expensive buffets.
