More expensive milk chocolate egg and rabbit figures are the most popular
Easter sweets sales are expected to be around HUF 2.3 billion-2.5 billion. According to the Nielsen Retail Index, seasonal turnover growth stopped in 2008 – in volume there was an 8-percent decline. Chocolate eggs and rabbits are the most popular figures. Last year 61 percent of figures sold were milk chocolate, while nougat realised 34 percent. Milk chocolate is considerably more expensive than nougat: last April 1 kg of milk chocolate figure cost HUF 3,895 – nougat figures could be bought for HUF1,529/kg. Retail channels: the 401-2,500 m² one expanded from 26 to 30 percent. Private label sales were 12-44 percent in the first months of the Easter holiday season last year, while a year earlier their share was only 9-17 percent.
