Pears will be expensive this year

Every year an average of 23-28 thousand tons of pears are produced in the country, and this year the amount is only expected to be half of this volume – index wrote after Magyar Hírlap.

In some places, in the Bodrogköz, Zala and Szatmár counties 90 percent of the pear crop was destroyed by ice and frost. So the purchase price of pears and Alexander pears fo example increased to 160 HUF, from last year’s averagge of 130 HUF. Fortunately, consumers do not need to fully adapt to the price increase, because pears can be also imported. (index, szalai)
