The GVH is working on reducing inflation – the competition authority discussed its proposals with domestic food industry organizations
The Economic Competition Authority (GVH) discussed its proposals aimed at reducing inflation published last week in a personal meeting with representatives of seven food industry and trade professional organizations and the Ministry of Agriculture.
The goal of the GVH is that its findings and recommendations induce practical measures that contribute to breaking down food inflation. All relevant market participants can comment on the draft report of the accelerated sectoral examination of durable foods until June 8.
On May 8, the Economic Competition Office released the draft report of the accelerated sectoral investigation on the market of durable foods (canned and frozen products) for public consultation.
Based on the results of the investigation, the GVH experts formulated six proposals and action points, which can contribute to more effective competition, strengthening market competition, and thereby reducing prices. The proposals include encouraging the production of vegetables and fruits in Hungary, increasing efficiency, automating agricultural production, installing irrigation systems, supporting the use of renewable energy sources, encouraging the development of precision agricultural vocational training and sustainable packaging systems. The GVH also indicated that it will continue to pay increased official attention to the commercial sector.
