The 2021 Furmint of the Dobogó Winery, founded by the Zwack family, won a gold medal with 96 points at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards 2025. The item entered the international top list as the most outstanding Hungarian dry wine of the year, confirming the dedicated professional work of co-owners Izabella Zwack and Attila Domokos, as well as the Dobogó team.

This year marked the 22nd time that the Decanter World Wine Awards competition, which is considered one of the most prestigious awards in the wine industry, took place. Known for its 100-point judging system, more than 16,000 wine items from 57 countries were entered this year, which were judged blindly, in several rounds, by a jury of 248 international wine experts from 35 different countries – including 72 Masters of Wine and 22 Master Sommeliers. The entries must meet very strict criteria every year, as the gold medal can only be awarded if the wines score above 95 points, while the Platinum and “Best in Show” awards can only be awarded if they score 97 points.

However, this strictness makes the awards truly valuable, and this year many Hungarian wines were awarded them: in 2025, the Hungarian entrants achieved excellent results again, with a total of 152 medals, and while 3 entries were awarded Platinum, 16 entries were awarded Gold. The highest-scoring Hungarian dry wine this time was the 2021 vintage Dobogó Furmint from Dobogó Pincészet.
