Many prizes at the 10. VinAgora International Wine Competition
Since it was founded in 1992, VinAgora has risen to become one of the 10 most respected competitions in the profession worlwide – this year the competition took place in Sopron, at Hotel Fagus on 18th-21st June.
Thanks to its historical traditions, Hungary is at the very heart of Central European viniculture; this is a key factor in the success of our wine competition. The VinAgora Wine Gala, at which guests can try any of the wines entered in the competition, has become an important adjunct to the competition itself. Apart from publicising the competition’s results, this events brings wine-lovers closer to the workings of the competition, the participating wines and in some cases, the vintners themselves. We endeavour to demonstrate to the most important participants in the wine trade that it is worthwhile making bold use of the VinAgora results and assessment, as a way to boost consumer confidence. This year, out of 263 foreign wine-samples 1 won a great golden prize, 15 golden prize, 38 silver prize. The most valuable wines seem to have arrived from Germany, Italy, Slovakia and Switzerland. More information on the event and the result of Hungarian wines is to be seen at www.vinagora.hu.
