The gluten-free breads and pastries of the year were awarded
The Association of Hungarian Farmers’ Unions and Farmers’ Cooperatives, the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK), the Hungarian Celiac Association and AMUREX GM Hungária Kft. organized the gluten-free bread and pastry competition for the third time, which this year announced winners in four categories. The aim of the competition is to draw attention to the needs of people with gluten sensitivity and to encourage the development of gluten-free products. The event took place on World Bread Day, where István Jakab, president of MAGOSZ, and Tamás Szécsényi, director of the NAK food industry, also participated.
Among the winners of the competition is P.Geri Kft., which won first place in the fresh bread category with its seeded brown bread, while Tamarix Kft. proved to be the best in the long-lasting bread category with its gluten-free seeded mold bread. The category of filled pastries was won by Frigo-Hasso Kft.’s párnácská with puffed cheese, and among the unfilled pastries, András Csirke’s salty bar with sheep’s curd finished in first place.
Among the special prize winners of the competition were Lavina Kft. and Becker és M Kft. Dr. Beáta Olga Felkai, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, emphasized at the award ceremony that the demand for gluten-free foods is constantly increasing, so the creation of quality and innovative products is also of particular importance in terms of food safety and the expansion of dietary options. Tünde Koltai, president of the Hungarian Celiac Association, highlighted the strict laboratory test requirements of the jury, which guarantee the safety of the products.
