We can improve the water situation with digital solutions
Although the situation has improved in recent years, it is estimated that about a quarter of the world’s population still does not have access to safe drinking water. Xylem unveiled its digital solution suite at this year’s IFAT International Show in support of more cost-effective and environmentally friendly water management. Although the situation with regard to drinking water supply and sanitation has improved somewhat in recent years, much remains to be done in this area, according to this year’s UN Water Report 2022. According to a study focusing primarily on the status and potential of groundwater, by 2020, 74 percent of the world’s population had access to safe drinking water. This is an improvement of 4 percentage points from five years ago, but it is certainly thought-provoking that clean drinking water is still not available to a quarter of humanity.
