Digital transition: the number of electronic signatures is increasing at a faster rate
The number of electronic signatures is growing at a faster rate than last year, with Microsec issuing more new electronic signature certificates in the first four months of this year than in all of last year.
According to the company, this growth is a good indication of the momentum of the digital transition, as well as the fact that electronic signatures have begun to be used in new sectors, such as real estate registration and official administration related to engineering activities. In addition, the rise of electronic signatures in domestic and international projects can also be seen in project management, which is explained by the fact that qualified e-signatures have uniform legal effect throughout the EU.
According to the company’s statement, the number of signed electronic documents can be estimated from the number of time stamps issued: according to statistical data, last year the number of time stamps was more than 2.225 billion, of which the number of company documents and electronic invoices was close to 1.5 billion.
The announcement quotes Gergely Vanczák, IT Director of Microsec, who said that according to available public data, the total number of electronic signatures issued to individuals and market service providers for business purposes under the Digital Citizenship Program has already exceeded 1 million, and this also helps accelerate the digital transition.
He added that the use of qualified electronic signatures provides a full legal and technical guarantee and makes printing, mailing and scanning documents created on a computer unnecessary.
The revenue of Microsec, a Hungarian-owned company that has been providing electronic signature technology for more than 20 years, reached 5 billion forints in 2023 and increased to 6.4 billion forints in 2024.
