DHL: Formula 1 packed into trucks
The Formula 1 is arriving to Hungary in these days, from the Hockenheimring, Germany. The teams have to deliver a total of 100 trucks of goods to Hungary, in the shortest possible time. The logistics of the entire Formula 1 circus is managed by DHL’s dedicated 30-person team.
During the entire Formula 1 season, DHL transports nearly 300 thousand tons of extremely fragile cargo between 20 race tracks on five continents by land, sea and by air. The equipment of the series travels a total of 137 thousands kilometers. DHL transports an approixmately 30 tons of goods to the European races for each teams, and 35-40 tons to the oversea races. The paddock related equipments fill eight jumbo jets. The deadlines are tight, so DHL and Formula 1TM’s management continuously cooperate to ensure that every little piece of tile to be in the right place in time.
