Deflation in the cocoa market: ALDI reduces the price of chocolate bars
ALDI is once again supporting Hungarian customers with a price reduction: with the decline in the world market price of cocoa, the supermarket chain achieved more favorable purchasing prices and – in accordance with its consistent practice – passed on the resulting price advantage to customers.
ALDI is constantly monitoring the development of world and domestic purchasing prices and strives to ensure that more favorable purchasing conditions are reflected in its store prices as quickly as possible. After reducing the prices of fresh pork and chicken and fifty dairy products, the company has implemented its fourth permanent price reduction in a month. In the cocoa market, the outlook for crop yields and harvests has improved, demand has decreased compared to the previous period, and concerns about supply shortages have also eased. All this has resulted in a decrease in purchase prices, the effect of which ALDI has also applied in consumer prices: the supermarket chain has permanently reduced the prices of several internationally purchased chocolate bars.
As part of the measure, the consumer prices of 16 popular ALDI private label chocolate products have been reduced by an average of 9.71% from January 23, 2026. The price reduction is beneficial for customers in several product categories: from cooking chocolates that are often used in everyday life, to classic milk and dark chocolates, to hazelnut and rum-raisin versions, many popular product types have become more accessible. In addition, the prices of products that serve special needs or have higher added value – such as sugar-free and premium chocolates – have also been reduced, making it possible for an even wider range of people to choose at a more affordable price. The price reduction affects some items of ALDI’s own-brand Choceur, Riquet, Back Family and Moser Roth chocolate bar products, and is valid uniformly in all stores of the supermarket chain in Hungary.
Some examples of price reductions with old and new prices and the amount of the discount:
• Choceur hazelnut chocolate 100 g: 649 HUF → 559 HUF (-13.87%)
• Choceur milk chocolate 100 g: 605 HUF → 515 HUF (-14.88%)
• Choceur Noisette 100 g: 745 HUF → 635 HUF (-14.77%)
• Back Family Couverture cooking chocolate 200 g: 1569 HUF → 1339 HUF (-14.66%)
• Moser Roth Composé chocolate 125 g: 1399 HUF → 1199 HUF (-14.30%)
• Choceur maltitos chocolate 90 g (without added sugar): 939 HUF → HUF 799 (-14.91%)
ALDI aims to consistently and quickly implement the price advantage resulting from favorable purchasing market changes in its consumer prices, so that customers can achieve meaningful, lasting savings on their favorite products in their everyday lives.
