Paper consumption can increase by 15 percent In December
In the last month of the year, the average monthly 7.8 kilogrammes per capita paper consumption can increase by 10-15 percent to 9 kilogrammes, due to the intense holiday shopping spree – according to the data of the Beverage Carton Environment Association (IKSZ)
In this time of the year, we not only purchase more from foods packaged into paper or beverage cartons, but the package of the gifts, the boxes of consumer durables, electronics products, significantly increase our use of paper. We still consume a lot of paper in Hungary; annually an average of 95 kilogrammes per capita half of which is made up of packaging materials. Only 65 percent of our paper consumption is recycled the rest is still going to landfill, so in December it iseven more importantly, to reduce the amount of redundant paper waste, so recycle it or collect is selectively – the Beverage Carton Association encourages.
