Maltese Universal Air launches flights from Debrecen to Leipzig and Malta
Maltese Universal Air will launch two return flights a week on the Debrecen-Leipzig and Debrecen-Malta routes from March 30, creating a direct connection between the cities, the press service of Debrecen Airport informed MTI on Wednesday.
In their statement, they wrote that the Maltese airline’s 78-seat De Havilland Canada Dash 8 aircraft will operate on the two routes. The first flight from Malta to Debrecen will land on the afternoon of March 30, and after a short stopover will continue to Leipzig, then return to Debrecen and continue to Malta on the morning of March 31, they announced.
The flights will operate on Thursdays and Sundays during the summer season, they announced.
In 2024, Debrecen Airport had more than 220,000 passengers. Wizz Air operates a scheduled flight between Debrecen and London, and Lufthansa between Debrecen and Munich. Vizz Air Debrecen-Tel-Aviv flight will resume in April, the airport’s press service announced, adding that seven more seaside resorts will be accessible by charter flights from Debrecen during the summer season.
The Debrecen municipality welcomed the announcement of the launch of the new flight in a statement sent to MTI.
“The new airline and the two flights they are launching can further strengthen our city’s leisure and business tourism, and the dynamic development that characterized the airport’s traffic before the coronavirus pandemic can resume in the field of air traffic,”
– they wrote.
They added that the Debrecen municipality, working with its partners, is working to add new destinations to the Debrecen International Airport’s offer.
