Czerván György: harvest is going on, 4 million tons are expected from winter wheat
After the harvest of the winter barley, the harvest of the winter wheat has also started in the country. 4 million tons are expected similar amount as last year – said Czerván György, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Rural Development (VM) responsible for agri-management, on Wednesday in Budapest.
The Secretary announced that in case of winter barley, 35 percent of the 176 thousand hectares cultivated area were harvested until now. The average yield per hectare is around 4 tons.
The winter wheat’s cultivated area is 1.08 million hectares, about 100 thousand hectares more than last year. Experts calculate with a 3.8 – 3.9 tons per hectare yield. (MTI)
