Sugar can be used by winemaking
The only question the percent, Hungary want 2%, EU would give only 1%
European Union governments fell to narrow their differences over how to reform Europe's vast wine sector and are now heading for a showdown on subsidies and the use of sugar in winemaking. The EU is divided along broad north-south lines over a proposal to ban sugar as a method of boosting alcohol content. But now the EU comitee advocates that sugar should be used, in maximum 1%, or in an extraordinary case other 0,5% could be given.
