There will be sugar
I have good news for the readers of TM. There will continue to be enough sugar on the shelves in the future. However, it is bad news for me, that not all of this sugar will come from domestic producers. A production quota of only 200,000 tonnes will remain for domestic producers in 2008. As a result of closing another two sugar plants, Hungarian producers of sugar beet will receive a subsidy of EUR 35/tonne for 5 years. Not all producers want to leave the business. The industry wants to continue production and I hope that it will. I hope that Koronás and Sweet Family will stay with us for a long time.
