Logistics Day will be on Thursday: logistics-related programs are expected across the country this week
In 2025, Logistics Day will be celebrated on April 10. Several countries, including Hungary, are preparing for the event, for example, the Budapest Metropolitan University (METU) and the Hungarian Logistics Association (MLE) with a free, all-day conference. However, on this occasion, we can also find logistics-related programs on several days of the week, in many locations across the country.
We have been celebrating Logistics Day in Hungary for 13 years now
Logistics Day is an event originating in Germany, where it has been celebrated since 2007. Hungary first joined the initiative of the German Logistics Association (BVL) 5 years later, in 2012. Most people identify logistics with the transport of goods. However, the world of logistics is much more complex than transporting things from A to B. Among other things, this event was started to be organized every April to illustrate this, and besides Germany, it is now also held in many other countries, including our country, by various actors. The event has also gained such significant popularity in Hungary over the years that businesses, educational institutions and professional organizations are now preparing for this important date with some kind of program throughout the country.
“Logistics Day – or another, perhaps less well-known name, Supply Chain Day – is now considered a truly special occasion for Hungarians working in the world of logistics. Even if not on the specific day, those interested can find numerous logistics-related programs around it all over the country. Moreover, these events are usually free and in many cases open to the public, as their goal is to get to know and love the world of logistics as much as possible,”
– said Dr. Zoltán Doór, president of the Hungarian Logistics Association (MLE), who added that they also prepared a program for the occasion, jointly organized with Hungary’s largest private university.
We can gain insight into many segments of the logistics world in the coming days
In view of last year’s great success, the Hungarian Logistics Association (MLE) and the Budapest Metropolitan University (METU) are preparing a joint program for Logistics Day this year. This year, they will organize the Last-Mile Logistics Conference again, with a similar structure to last year, but taking into account the trends of 2025. City logistics means organized transport and supply of goods within the city, including the joint implementation of regulated truck traffic. The last-mile, or last mile in logistics, refers to the last stage of the transport process, when the product reaches the consumer from the local distribution center. The latest developments in the field will be under scrutiny again on April 10th in Budapest.
“The all-day program to be held on the METU campus will focus on the challenges and innovations of last-mile logistics, sustainability and efficiency in supply chains, and new trends and impacts of e-commerce on the logistics sector. Therefore, the conference will bring together experts in the regulatory environment, city operations, delivery activities, and related digitalization solutions,”
– said the president of the Hungarian Logistics Association (MLE).
