Bird flu has also reached the Csongrád-Csanád county
The bird flu epidemic is spreading rapidly in our country: the presence of a highly pathogenic bird flu virus has already been identified in the county of Csongrád-Csanád by the laboratory of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih).

The competent authorities took action regarding the liquidation of the affected herds, and the protection and supervision districts were also designated. In the breeding goose flock of about 6,000 animals in Szentes, Csongrád-Csanád county, the “classic” signs (increased mortality, appearance of nervous system symptoms, decrease in feed and water consumption) indicated a possible bird flu infection. The Nébih laboratory confirmed the presence of the H5N1 subtype of bird flu. The authorities immediately started an epidemiological investigation, and the stock will be liquidated shortly. The specialists designated a 3 km radius protection zone around the affected farm and – based on a risk analysis – determined the surveillance (observation) zone.
