The presence of avian influenza has also been confirmed in Csongrád-Csanád County
The National Food Chain Safety Authority (Nébih) has confirmed the presence of a highly pathogenic avian influenza virus in a farm keeping fattening turkeys in Csongrád-Csanád County. The affected herd is in the process of being eliminated. Full compliance with epidemiological regulations remains essential in our country.
The suspicion of avian influenza arose due to increased mortality and nervous system symptoms observed in a fattening turkey herd of approximately 40,600 individuals located in the Szentes settlement of Csongrád-Csanád County. The Nébih laboratory detected the H5N1 subtype of the virus in a sample taken from the herd. The elimination of the affected herd has already begun based on suspicion, and the epidemiological investigation is in progress. The authority has designated a 3 km radius protection zone and a 10 km radius observation zone around the farm.
Nébih once again draws the attention of animal keepers to the fact that strict and consistent compliance with disease control regulations is crucial in preventing the spread of the virus
Avoiding another large-scale avian influenza epidemic is only possible through continuous protection. Given that the virus is present in wild birds, it is of utmost importance to minimize the possibility of poultry encountering wild birds, thereby reducing the chance of poultry becoming infected.
